Project Type:
Residential Home Remodeling
Location:
Sacramento, CA
Before:
Entire house was dated, confining & dark – wanted to upgrade to light, eco-friendly materials. Front of house and entry was uninviting. Residents desired a comfortable area to entertain and “live” on the front of the house.
An updated metro feel to addition & remodel areas was requested.
After:
A Sacramento Bungalow Gets a Major Lift.
Once the clients compared prices and potential designs, they decided to go up instead of digging down to create a light-filled ground-floor unit. They lifted the house about 2½ feet to get a full walk-out basement.
Lifting up the house meant they could install full-size windows down here, as well as the glass entry door, which make the space light and bright.
Now the house stands proud, with a much stronger presence from the street.
An elegant tile backsplash behind the range reflects the light and adds a break in the wood that highlights the vent hood and draws the eye upward. The metal shelves came from a commercial restaurant vendor and tie into the appliances. A custom-crafted island includes a butcher block top, open shelves for cookbooks and dishtowels, and holes for wine bottles down the side.
Love your work! Beautifully done. I am trying to get inspiration to do some remodeling with our own. Thanks for sharing!
